Our Goals and Concepts
Sanalco.com
was established with the concept of bringing together
all necessary and pertinent information under one comprehensive
roof and making it available to its members. Links to
local building departments, construction and building
standards, manufacturer specifications, construction
materials, construction calculators and do-it-yourself
projects can be accessed quickly. Links to useful sites
such as US West Dex, Zip Code search, and AZ Blue Stake.
This concept is supported by the experience,
knowledge and education of Alan E. Burns and Sylvia
A. Nassimos.
Alan commenced his experience in the building
industry as a saw operator and truss builder for a truss
manufacturing facility. Having had the experience of
all phases of the truss manufacturing industry, Alan
was promoted to truss designer. Alan continued to expand
his knowledge and education by taking classes such as
architectural graphics & Computer-Aided Design and
Drafting, construction methods and techniques, building
codes, energy efficient design, and solar power.
Alan’s knowledge and expertise includes
the privilege of being invited to be a guest speaker
at the local community college. His agenda included
topics such as building codes, reading a Simpson Strong-tie
Book for information and connection, and also specific
to roof and floor trusses; how to read truss calculations
to design and build houses. Alan continues to receive
invitations to be a guest speaker in these areas.
During the last five years, Alan expanded
his knowledge and experience by venturing into other
areas of northern Arizona in regards to truss design,
thus learning different codes and regulations specific
to those areas. He has branched into commercial building
as well and as a result of his continued effort to excel,
he was recently promoted to Design Manager.
On a personal level, Alan has spent the
last 2 years devoting most of his spare time to learning
and researching building department codes and regulations,
material specification and construction standards.
Sylvia started her career in law as a
court stenographer and subsequently left the court system
to pursue a career as a legal secretary. Sylvia brings
with her a diversified portfolio which includes assistant
to a commercial loan officer and assistant to an insurance
adjuster. Her experience in both these fields, coupled
with her long career in law, enhances Sylvia’s
ability to comprehend the intricacies of the building
industry.
Sylvia’s personal experience in
designing a great room addition to her home in Phoenix,
Arizona as an owner-builder created a first-hand understanding
of the in depth difficulties in the building industry.
Learning how to obtain detailed information and complying
with the building codes, rules and regulations certainly
made for an experience worth expressing.
Sanalco.com makes it easy to locate
the information you need for your home-building project.
